Prague Jewish Museum
In the Old Town, there is one of the most famous and best preserved Jewish neighborhoods in the world. Until the twentieth century, it was a great Jewish ghetto, and thanks to Adolf Hitler, which is simply incredible, the whole of this quarter remained untouched and undamaged. Namely, Hitler wanted to make a “museum of extinct race” from this place, right after the extermination of the Jews.

The main attraction of this Jewish quarter, which is certainly our recommendation for you to visit is the Prague Jewish Museum. The museum is one of the best in the world with a unique collection of Jewish art, textiles and silver that has been incorporated in Jewish history.

Regardless of your religious affiliation or no matter if you are an atheist, you should visit this museum. Although this is not a museum in the classical sense, it represents a collection of synagogues and Jewish buildings. Here you can learn a lot about the culture and religion of the Jews.

The sights within the Prague Jewish Museum that can be visited are: the synagogue Maisel, Pinkas Synagogue, the Klausen Synagogue, the Spanish Synagogue, the old Jewish cemetery, the “Staron” Synagogue, the Robert Gutman Gallery and the ceremonial hall

There is one interesting thing about Staron’s synagogue, or rather, legend. If you are a fan of this type of myth, then do not miss out on checking whether it is just a myth or there is also a pinch of truth.
Namely, according to the legend, on the synagogue attic, there are the remains of the Prague “Golem”, a mythical being made from the dirt. He will rise again and protect the Prague Jews if they ever again get close to danger.

All synagogues and gallery are also a museum, and they held a permanent exhibition of Jewish customs and traditions and, of course, history.
